About Me
A fisherman and entrepreneur who knows his way around the Great Sacandaga Lake
From then to now
Dave was raised on the shores of the Great Sacandaga Lake and began fishing on the lake when he was just 5 years old. Now Dave’s dream of becoming a fishing Guide is coming true.
Dave has over 52 years of fishing expertise on the Sacandaga lake and has won his fair share of fishing tournaments. He began mounting his trophy fish that he caught on the lake on his wall at home. Northern Pike, walleye & brown trout to name just a few. Shortly after, Dave opened up Dave’s Bait & Tackle which he operated successfully for several years. He then decided that he wanted to spend less time in his bait and tackle shop and more time on the water doing what he loves; fishing.
Being that Dave loved running the shop and interacting with clients, it was a no brainer to become a fishing guide.
Dave will be guiding on a 2019 24 foot pontoon boat with a 115 horsepower. 4 Stroke Mercury and a GARMIN fish finder to ensure a catch! The boat will be located at Lanzi’s on the Lake where you can enjoy a great meal and drinks before or after your tour.
The pontoon boat creates many ways to catch fish. Trolling is Dave’s preferred way to catch fish, but the pontoon gives customers many options. You can also cast or jig for fish, or you can fish in more shallow water depending on which types of fish you’d like to catch.
The Great Sacandaga Lake is home to a large number of fish. Customers can catch northern pike, bass, walleye, perch, brown trout, and rainbow trout. If you’re lucky you’ll catch a white perch, bull head or a catfish.
Dave has also fished many of the Adirondack ponds for brook trout. Dave currently owns a 22 ½ foot STARCRAFT Islander with a hard top and all the bells & whistles with a CANNON electric down riggers, Uhf Marine radio, 2 Hummingbird fish finders, and a Fishawk x4 speed + temp unit. Dave uses this boat for his personal use, mainly on the shores of Lake Ontario at Catfish Creek. At this time Dave doesn’t need this boat in his fleet, but will gladly bring it to the Great Sacandaga Lake if the need arises.
Dave’s specialty is catching walleyes on the lake. Over the years, Dave has seen the ups & downs of the walleye and trout fishing on the lake. He has helped many people get the right bait & lures to land the trophy fish that everyone wants to catch.
Dave aims to make your experience enjoyable as you fish the Great Sacandaga Lake in the Adirondack Mountains!
